Well, talk about not blogging sheesh ... I guess my life isn't that exciting :( Part time job ... married with a dog no kids. So I will just toss out some ideas for discussion and we can go from there.
Let's start with oil. I live in southern California where gas costs around $4 a gallon. Nationally the average is half that. There is no shortage of oil especially with the shale in South Dakota. California produces around 200 million barrels daily and all of it gets consumed. That means we have to import the rest. Although that could increase the price, I don't see it doubling the cost.
Hawaii is out in the Pacific yet they only pay $3 a gallon. What gives? I call it greed. CA state tax on a gallon is about 80 cents but that won't justify what we pay.
If we all drove less we could create a glut but you know how human nature is. And the oil companies know it. They figure if you want to drive, pay the costs. Seems predatory to me.
